Boracay NewCoast

What is Boracay NewCoast?

Picture
  • Boracay Newcoast is an integrated tourism estate with world-class resort offerings. It is the first and only master-planned leisure oriented community in Boracay. Situated northeast of the island, it is a fresh tourism inspired development that will help Boracay attract more tourists and investors over the long-term.
  • Located on the single largest piece of contiguous land in Boracay, Boracay Newcoast makes up 14% of the island (including the golf course).

Boracay Newcoast has an entire area of 140 hectares.

90 hectares comprise the private golf club (Fairways and Bluewater) including its 18-hole Championship Golf Course.  Fairways and Bluewater is by membership only. The public area is approximately 50 hectares.

          (a) One of the public area’s main attractions is an exclusive, kilometer-long white  sand beach separated into 3 coves. Apart from a private residential village, there are specialty boutique hotels, shop houses, and a massive commercial center called Newcoast Station. Included also are 4 international hotel brands  (including an international spa hotel) plus a local one.
(b)Lots available for sale are titled properties, not mere tax declarations. This is significant because only 29% of Boracay Island is titled.
  • Newcoast Drive (approximately 2.5 kilometers) is the main road of Boracay Newcoast. In terms of project development, Newcoast Drive is scheduled to be Phase 1. Start of construction is September (target completion is between 12-18 months afterwards) - for Newcoast Drive only.
  • Entrance to the Boracay Newcoast is adjacent to the Eco village and Shangri-La Boracay; the road will be open to the public.
  • Inspired by the townships created by Megaworld Corporation in Metro Manila (examples are Eastwood City, McKinley Hill, and Newport City), Boracay Newcoast will become the benchmark for Philippine leisure destination. Tourists could expect a truly international experience.

Global acceptance of Boracay as beach destination makes the island a top choice for sustainable long-term tourism.

Boracay ranked No.1 in Asia and No.2 in the world in the 2011 Travelers' Choice Awards of TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel website.  The Island bested Maldives, Aruba, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Hawaii.
  • Boracay NewCoast, located on the single largest piece of contiguous land in Boracay, makes up more than 14percent of the island.   Its main attraction is an exclusive, kilometer-long white sand beach.
  • the project also features the upgraded 18-hole Fairways and Bluewater golf course and various themed districts with international and boutique hotels, shophouses, ocean villas, and retail-centered NewCoast Station.
  • Boracay NewCoast is set to bring in additional 350,000 visitors to the island yearly and generate more than 7,000 new jobs.
  • The project is seen to double per capita income in Boracay within the next few years.

"The world's best island, I confess to never having heard of it in the Philippines," "Today" host Willie Geist said.

"This is important, Boracay. It beat out Bali, number 2. It's one of those islands you should know about if you're interested in culture and value," Motamed told Geist.

"Our readers love this, it's not been on anyone's radar. It's in the Philippines. This is the place that you're gonna get not only hotels that you can stay for $50 a night but incredible hotels like the Shangri-la," she added.

Winners in other categories are Bangkok (world's best city), Singita Grumeti Reserves (world's best hotel), Crystal Cruises (world's best large ship cruise line), Seabourn (world's best small ship cruise line), Viking River Cruises (world's best river cruise line), Singapore Airlines (world's best international airline), Virgin America (world's best domestic airline), Micato Safaris (world's best safari outfitter), Row Adventures (world's best tour operator), Hertz (world's best car rental agency), Red Mountain Resort (world's best destination spa), and Capella Pedregal (world's best hotel spa).

What is sustainable development?

Picture
Environmental, economic and social well-being for today and tomorrow
Sustainable development has been defined in many ways, but the most frequently quoted definition is from Our Common Future, also known as the Brundtland Report:
"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It contains within it two key concepts:
the concept of needs, in particular the essential needs of the world's poor, to which overriding priority should be given; and the idea of limitations imposed by the state of technology and social organization on the environment's ability to meet present and future needs."
